Our events for this week of August 20, 2017

 

Feed the Hungry will be serving delicious food between services today, proceeds to benefit their upcoming outreach to Mexico. Please keep them in your prayers as they prepare and travel south of the border Saturday, September 2nd. 

Harvest Crusade The final night is tonight, Pray, Invite and Bring someone who needs Jesus! Harvest is meant as an opportunity to bring non-believers to hear the gospel mes-sage. If you want to bring someone and need transportation, please see James Closs after service. 

Summer Movie Night and Community Outreach A terrific opportunity to wind down the summer! This coming Friday at 7:30pm, this event is free, will be in our parking lot, and is an outreach to our community, so please invite your neighbors, family, and friends! Please bring your own chair. We will be showing the movie Little Boy, an inspirational story of a 7-year old boy who is willing to do whatever it takes to end World War II so he can bring his father home. The story reveals the indescribable love a father has for his little boy and the love a son has for his father, rated PG-13 for action, drama, and war. Popcorn and lemonade will be provide. Come join us for a great time of fellowship and an inspiring movie of love and faith. 

“Coins from Heaven” Assisted Living Facility Fundraiser for El Reposo de Dios (God’s Rest) in Ensenada, Baja California. Pastor Gonzalo and Naomi Maya would like to thank everyone who participated in the last fundraiser we had in November. We are close to meeting our goal of purchasing the 4.9 acres for El Reposo de Dios. Once again, we would like to ask if you could take a container and deposit your loose change during the month of August, bring it back no later than September 1st. El Reposo serves the abandoned and destitute elderly with love, respect, and dignity. Please see Mali Teng in the foyer, if the Lord puts it in your heart to take a container today. You may also contact Carlos Portillo in our Spanish service. 

Bread of Life will be shutting down for the month of August, there will be no food distribution during that month. 

Sisters in Christ will be visiting Santa Fe Convalescent Hospital next Sunday at 2:00pm. For additional details, please contact Jackie Fisher. 

Women’s Retreat is fast approaching and filling up, there’s only a few spots are remaining! Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity, September 22-24, at the beautiful Calvary Chapel Conference Center Twin Peaks. Guest speakers Maureen Schaffer and Heidi Douglass will be ministering to our ladies. The total cost is $165.00. A $50.00 deposit is required to reserve your spot. Registration forms and payment envelopes are available at the infor-mation counter, please place them in the Agape box when completed. 

Calvary Chapel Christian School Downey is hosting a free conference this coming Friday at 7:00pm, Equip: Engaging the Always-Changing Culture with the Never-Changing Word, with cultural missionary and founder of the Pure Truth, Ben Schettler. Calvary Chapel Downey Women’s Ministry will have their final Ladies Night Out event, “Anchored in Him”, on Monday, August 28th with guest speaker Cathy Dickinson of CC El Cajon. Labour of Love Music Fest Saturday, September 2nd 11am–5pm Bolsa Chica State Beach featuring the Newsboys. Free Event with food, games for the kids, venders, givea-ways, concert and Gospel message. Calvary Chapel Artesia Women’s Conference Saturday, September 9th 9am-3pm at 18177 Pioneer Blvd. Artesia. Event is free with breakfast and lunch provided, however no childcare is available. Sign up at the information counter.
